Hello friends and welcome to my website.
Tuesday night was a great victory for the people of Queens. For the decent, hard-working families that strive every day to run their businesses, raise their kids, and do right by their communities. It was the start of a new chapter in the history of the 13th district and we have finally put an end to dysfunction, to divisiveness, to disappointment.
I am proud that the 13th District chose to send me to Albany. I am steadfast in my commitment to work for them, to defend the values of our Party and to never abandon the core principles of equality that make us proud to be Democrats.
While we can take great pride in our achievement Tuesday night, it is important to remember that difficult work lies ahead.Our state is in crisis. We are faced with the greatest economic crisis in generations and we will have to make difficult choices. Some will tell us that we have to choose between our financial well-being and our most treasured values. They will tell us that we can no longer afford to be the state that prides itself on its support for the working people of this state, for the elderly, for children. And they will be wrong.
I will be sending a clear message to Albany: this state's budget cannot and will not be balanced on the backs of the working families of this state.
I look forward to working with my fellow members of the New York State Senate to craft a responsible budget that addresses our budget challenges without compromising our commitment to the most vulnerable members of our society.
Thank you Jackson Heights, thank you Corona, thank you Lefrak City, thank you East Elmhurst, thank you Woodside, thank you Elmhurst, thank you Queens for the support and confidence you have shown me during this campaign. None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts and support from hundreds of volunteers, my friends in the labor movement, the many community and state wide organizations that helped and my fellow colleagues in government.
I have already begun serving the 13th district in the State Senate. And I will continue my commitment to put the people first, to serve with honestly and integrity and to be a Senator each and every one of you can be proud of.
